Various research shows regular exercise can help prevent breast cancer. But what about the mechanisms that occur in the body during exercise to prevent breast cancer ?
According to a new study , exercise can change the way a woman's body metabolizes estrogen. This may help explain how aerobic activity can reduce the risk of breast cancer in women.
President Mindy Kurzer studies , professor of nutritional sciences and the department of nutrition at the University of Minnesota in Saint Paul United States , said , previous studies have shown that exercise can reduce the risk of breast cancer but there has been no clinical studies to explain the mechanism behind this.
"This study shows aerobic exercise affects the way the body to break down estrogen metabolites to produce " good " and further reducing the risk of breast cancer ," he said .
The study, published in the Cancer Epidemiology , Biomarkers & Prevention Journal involves 400 young healthy women , but rarely exercise. They are divided into two groups. They all have not experienced menopause which means that their bodies produce much estrogen.
The first group is not allowed to exercise, while the second group was asked 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week for 16 weeks. The second group uses equipment such as trademill or stairs for exercise.
Before and after 16 weeks, the researchers analyzed urine samples from both groups. After the study, they found a woman who was in the exercise group had higher estrogen metabolites levels can reduce the risk of breast cancer.
"Exercise is known to improve heart health, and even exercise can also help prevent breast cancer by altering estrogen metabolism ," said Kurzer .
This study is being developed for women who are at high risk for breast cancer.
